With over 45 years’ experience in the mushroom industry, Dr. Mark Wach, has spent the last 30 with Sylvan, Inc., a world leader in fungal biotechnology, where he currently serves as the Company’s Chief Innovation Officer. A graduate of the University of California at Berkeley and a native San Franciscan, Dr. Wach completed his graduate education at the Pennsylvania State University’s Department of Plant Pathology and Environmental Microbiology.
In addition to directing a multinational team of researchers charged with maintaining Sylvan’s position as the premier supplier of mushroom spawn and related products, Dr. Wach and his team provide support for Sylvan Bio, a division responsible for harnessing Sylvan’s proprietary solid-substrate fermentation platform to develop specialty applications utilizing fungi in the development of nutraceutical, pharmaceutical, and specialty chemical products.
