Mark den Ouden

Founder & Director, Mushroom Office
Introduction

Mushrooms have played an important role in Mark's life for more than forty years. It all started when he was a young boy back on his father’s farm. That’s when he noticed that mushroom growing is more than just repeating a trick. It’s different every time, and you have to combine instinct with expertise and experience.

In mushroom cultivation, there are many ways to reach a result. The real question is not which method you use, but why you use it. Understanding the “why” behind your composting and growing decisions drives consistent performance and long-term improvement. That's why Mark founded the Mushroom Office, a global authority in mushroom education.

During the past decades of giving advice and training, he has encountered countless problems in practice relating to composting and cultivation. By sharing his own expertise, experience and instinctive feeling with the students or clients many problems have been solved along the way. But Mark never stops learning either!

Through structured training programs and international field experience, Mushroom Office has supported professionals in over 70+ countries in improving cultivation performance.

The Mushroom Office’s goal is to raise the technical standard of mushroom cultivation worldwide.
